Me & Dad had a walk around the Iron Acton area to see what was about. We saw a few Green-veined Whites, Small Whites, 2 Small Coppers, Beautiful Demoiselles, Male Common Blue, Dock Shieldbug & Female Southern Hawker

Moth Trap 29th August 2021

Me & Dad put the Moth Trap in Old Sodbury. There we had Canary-shouldered Thorn, September Thorn, Dusky Thorn, Blood-vein Moth, Lesser Yellow Underwings, Setaceous Hebrew Characters, Large Yellow Underwings, Common Wainscot. When we got home, we noticed a Common Wave Moth on the edge of our Moth trap & released it into the garden. In our garden, we had both Speckled Bush Cricket & Meadow Grasshopper.

I took a few pics of a Small Tortoiseshell while working at Organic Blooms

Found this young Wood Mouse in the garden eating the cake that the birds had dropped. Looks very young to be out, hope he was okay.

I photographed some more Insects while working at Organic Blooms. These inculded a faded Mint Moth, 2nd Instar Common Green Shieldbug, Blood-vein Moth, Red Admiral, Brimstone, Garden Spider, Root-maggot Fly [Anthomyia pluvialis], Heineken Fly [Rhingia campestris], Speckled Wood & Red Spider Mite.

We went to Standish Junction to see 35028 Clan Line on the return Cotswold Venturer from Worcester Shrub Hill-London Paddington.

We put the Moth Trap the previous night to see what was about on the wing in the area. In the morning we had a September Thorn, Large Yellow Underwings, Blood-vein Moth, Lesser Yellow Underwing, Light Apple Brown Moth & Common Grass-veener. Also found a Common Wainscot perched on the Bathroom window sill. A few Large White Caterpillars were still feeding in our garden. A Double-striped Pug was resting on one our windows.

Swift's Hill 1st August 2021

Me & Dad went to Swift's Hill to look for the Broad-leaved Helleborine. We saw Gatekeepers, Silver-washed Fritillaries & a Male Common Blue on the wing. We saw at least 7 Broad-leaved Helleborine in full flower, including one reddish individual. Both the White Helleborine & Bird's Nest Orchids were still present, but had now gone over. A few Harebells were in flower on the slope.

While I was working at Organic Blooms, I photographed a Mint Moth, Scorpion Fly, Small Copper, Painted Lady [first of the Summer] & Brown Argus.

The following day, while I was working I photographed a Male Common Blue, Small Copper, Blood-vein Moth, Brimstone, Walnut Orbweb Spider, Meadow Grasshopper, Field Grasshopper, Lucerne Bug [Adelphocoris lineolatus] & Comma. Also we saw a Juvenile Hedgehog out & about around our garden in the late afternoon, so we kept an eye on it, until it went back into the Hedgehog Box.

A Peacock & a Female Brimstone were feeding on the Buddleias in our garden that morning.

A Juvenile Male Sparrowhawk flew down & landed in our garden with a House Sparrow in it's talons. It eventually flew off with it's prey item.

I photographed a Male Beautiful Demoiselle, Mint Moths & Cuckoo Pint [Arum Lily] while working at Organic Blooms.

During my break at Organic Blooms, I only had time to photograph a Garden Spider & Brown Argus.

Yate 11th &12th August 2021

On the Wednesday, we saw a Painted Lady & Red Admiral feeding on the Buddleias.

While taking our old shed down, We found three Wood Mice nests under the floor. Work had to stop for the day until the Mice mums sorted it out. They were all gone today, so they must have taken them to new nests. We hoped that they were all fine.

After a couple of weeks after the Female Large White had laid eggs on the leaves of some our plants, I managed to photographed the Caterpillars in one of their instar stages.
