Bristol and Avon Bird

Sightings

Marshfield & Yate
1st January 2021

We went for a drive around Marshfield, but was very quiet for birdlife. Along Shire Hill, we saw a large number of Fieldfares & a few Redwings feeding in the fields. Further along the road were 3 Roe Deer in the far field.

In the evening, the Wood Mice were feeding on the bird feeders.

We had a couple of Redwings foraging in front of our garden & perched in the tree, during a cold spell of weather. Also plenty of Goldfinches, Common Starlings, Wood Pigeons, Collared Doves & House Sparrows feeding on feeders.

Chipping Sodbury Common 17th January 2021

Me & Dad popped up to Chipping Common for a walk around. We saw a few Redwings feeding on the ground, also 3 Mistle Thrushes. A couple of Long-tailed Tit flitted through the bushes with a Goldcrest. Black-headed Gulls were foraging on the nearby golf course. We saw a Grey Heron by one of the ponds, before flying off. A Green Woodpecker flew across the golf course & disappeared out of sight. A Skylark was displaying in a songflight over the common.

I photographed a Dunnock & Female Common Kestrel perched in a tree. Also saw a few Redwings while I was working at Orgainc Blooms in Latteridge. A couple of Pied Wagtails were foraging in the mulch & manure piles for Insects.

While I was on my break at Organic Blooms in Latteridge, I managed to photographed the Female Common Kestrel perched on top of the gazebo.

Yate 24th January 2021

The Male Blackcap was feeding in our garden on a very chilly & snowy day. The other birds were also feeding on the feeders as well. The Redwings made a appearance near the edge of the garden, but there was not many berries left. A Female Pied Wagtail also visited the garden.

While I was working at Organic Blooms in Latteridge I photographed a Male Blackbird & a few Redwings feeding on the last remaining Ivy Berries by the entrance. As there was still snow about, it was visible to see the footprints of some of the Animals that have been on the site. These were Rabbits, Brown Rats [not everybody's favourite] & Muntjac.
